Is OnePlus 15R Worth It Or Not?

Table of Contents

    Introduction:

How are you doing, our friends? The OnePlus 15R has finally entered the market. The OnePlus 15 has a lot of things that are flagship-level, but the price is low. But what else has been reduced with the price? Like a camera used to be three, now it is two. But some things have been added. It has a 165 Hz display.

What difference will you make in 120 and 165? They have made a different UFS 4.1 in storage, they have added extra performance, and they have changed the software. But actually, how much work does it do in real life? We have done all the testing. If you have seen this video, you will know everything about this phone. First of all, the box is the same as that of the OnePlus 15R. It is red in colour, all around. Never settle, brother. There is no need to settle. Here is our OnePlus.

The phone is different in the winter season. It’s not as cold as the stainless steel and titanium. It’s different in the aluminium. The Type A drive has an 80W charger. It’s thick and nice. It has a smiley Sim ejector. Its face is open. There were some books, but my friend’s education has ended. Inside, there’s a Tata logo. It’s designed like that. But it’s an. Can you stand on your feet? It’s done with just the phone.

We are going to test 10 exciting things on this phone. And the first one is scratches. Its back is made of ceramic. And ceramic is actually harder than glass or metal. So whatever you rub, its material gets on its back a little. So it looks like it has scratches on it, but actually, it doesn’t. And the same thing is added to it even after the price is reduced.

But overall, if you look at the design, it is very similar to the OnePlus 15, but it is very different from the last time. There are power volume buttons on the right side, and there is a very slight curve on the sides and corners. Like, if you hold it in your hand, it doesn’t stick like this. The camera pump is also completely flat; there is an angular design on the sides, and a dual flash is attached to the side. OnePlus has been running a round camera design for a long time, but this time, they have changed it completely. If you hold it in your hand, it is 200mm.

    Weight:

It weighs 219 grams. Last time it was 206 grams. And one camera was more. So even after removing one camera, the weight has increased a little. And the reason for this is its battery. But you must remember that when you take out the OnePlus 15 from your pocket, it used to come with scratches, and it used to get destroyed. It has the same thing in it. But you won’t see it in this colour. As it is black, you can draw black with it. You just have to remove it with your hand, and it gets destroyed.

Then there is no problem. One thing we felt is that its price is quite less than the OnePlus 15, but there is no compromise in the design. It has been launched in three colours. One is minty breeze in our hands, one is charcoal black, and one is electric violet. We think it is a light colour. This will give more vibe, but if they had made it a golden oldie in this, it would have been fun. This was our friend, the beauty. Now you people have heard of IP68, IP69. My favorite is, of course, IP69.

They have added K in it. K means it can do different things. They have added it to hot water, or they have used a pressure washer. We have reached the area of car washing. The phone is stuck in the hot water. They have put it in a bowl.

The front also has Gorilla Glass 7i. Let us remove it. Brother, it is obvious. If we talk about the ports, then there are speakers, a mic, and a SIM tray. It is a USB Type-C port. This Type-C port is USB 2.0. 2.0 means your transfer speed will be a little less. 3.2 would have been better. On the left side, you might have remembered that an alert slider used to come.

It has become a plus. It has taken a screenshot, and it has analyzed everything. What are the things in it? What is the time? AI has made a complete summary of this screenshot. You can also call it the advanced screenshot button. The whole space where all these things are saved is called mind space. If you press and hold, you can save voice notes in it. Like this voice note is saving.

It’s saving, and it adds it to the mind space. It’s a small add-on, but it’s very useful. If you want to customise it, we don’t want to take a screenshot; we can take it with a triple-tap. So, apart from that, for sound and vibration or for the camera, if we press and hold it, the video camera will open. There are many options that we can select. Now, let us tell you honestly, the AI sound, the colours were interesting and eye-catching.
We have tried many things, but we haven’t found any compromise. The under-screen fingerprint scanner is also ultrasonic. Optical is a bit cheaper, and ultrasonic is a bit more expensive. And ultrasonic is like a water finger. We have also put this on the screen. No problem. If we talk about the display, it is 6.83 inches, and it does everything that could be done in the display.

    Display:

It has a 165Hz AMOLED display, HDR10+, and 10bit. First of all, 165Hz is too much. At this price point, you get 144Hz. It feels futuristic. But 165Hz feels very smooth. If you are moving your finger, you feel that the butter is going smoothly. But there is a big problem with this.

165 Hz is not working. Like you are running an app drawer, the app drawer is also running at 120 Hz. When you open the camera, it runs between 60 and 90 Hz. No app runs above 120 Hz. And because the screen is capable of 165 Hz, you feel that it is slightly smooth. But the whole fun of 165 Hz is not there. And that fun is not that it can’t come anywhere. There are 1-2 apps that run at 165 Hz.

If you download Clash of Clans from play store, then Clash of Clans comes on 165hz and if you actually scroll to the base, then you feel that how much fun there is in 165hz. Let us show you a comparison. Both phones have Clash of Clans running. One is 165hz and the other is 120hz. And if we run it in slow motion, then you will notice the difference that comes in the frames. The animations and the movement of the troops are also very smooth. If we drop the spell, then its effect and building destroy the animation, which also looks a bit smooth.

It’s not like there’s no difference at all. If you’re normally scrolling at 120Hz, then you feel the difference is very slight. It feels like the 165Hz one is a bit smoother. And this FPS meter is basically what we did in developer options. We turned it on.

But yes, OnePlus should have used 165Hz software because most people won’t be able to enjoy it. If we talk about the display, the bezels are very thin on all sides. We also liked the wallpaper, which is added with different types of themes. If you have seen HDR content, you can watch it on Netflix, YouTube, and Instagram. Plus, in many phones, everything looks black on Netflix. It doesn’t have that. If you change the mode. And do it in pro mode. Then it actually gives you natural colours. And in display. If you are running two windows. Then you can also use it.

    Battery:

The battery is 7400 mAh. Plus 80-watt charging. But our friends know. We think the numbers are good. We did real-world testing. So we turned on the HDR video. We have set the timer. Let’s see how much battery is left after 1 hour. If the battery is reducing by 7% in 1 hour, then you can watch movies on this phone for 14-15 hours in HDR. We did a 4K recording. We did a 40-minute round, and our battery dropped by 15%.

Let us tell you a simple thing: if you are doing a normal task, then your 7% will go in an hour, and if you are doing a bgmi or 4k recording, then your 15% will go in an hour. If we guess, one person uses their phone for approximately 6 hours a day. If you are playing a game for an hour, recording for an hour, and using the remaining hours normally, then your 2 days will go easily. And if you are just watching videos and scrolling Instagram reels, then your 2.5 days can also go by.

This is our full battery research for this phone. You tell me, do you do it for every phone? If we talk about software, it is coming with Android 16. If you actually scroll, you will feel the same thing. The liquid and glass one. Like the search button is transparent. If you scroll from the top, you will feel a slight transparency. Those glass effects. Of course, my friends, we feel a little inspired by Apple. Oxygen OS 16 is the latest one.

But we liked the small things, like the settings. When we go to the end of the list, it vibrates slightly. It’s very slight. Whether you are increasing the volume or scrolling, it’s very light. It adds a little premiumness. It’s offering 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates. The Plus Mind has the integration of Google’s Gemini. We pressed the A+ button on it. It told us what the weather forecast was going to be.

This is the recording that we have made. It has been converted into a transcript and given in pointers. You can hide your phone in the school column. You can sleep with fun and take notes of the whole class. The teacher has picked up the notes and asked what the answer is. You quickly searched and told. This is AI technology. AI portrait glow basically adds a little glow to the face. Portrait shots are done very nicely. Now let’s come to the topic.

    Camera:

Camera. It has a dual camera setup. 50MP is the primary camera, and 8MP is the ultrawide camera. But actually, if you look at the sensor, the primary sensor is Sony’s IMX906 sensor. The main camera has an upgrade from the last time, but the telephoto lens has been removed. The front camera has 32MP.

We have taken many photos with this. And if you notice this, the grass is looking very bright green in the background. There is a slight light on the face, and the sky is also looking a little blue. The whole combined dark area and light area is shown in the same image. And we have taken this one in ultra-wide too.

If the light is outdoors, then the images are clear. The colours are bright. If you see the texture of the skin in the wide, then it is a little dark under the eyes. The details of the beard are a little missing. This happens. But if you see the same thing indoors, then you can see the details in the beard, the details in the face, the details in the hair. So you will feel a major difference in the details in the wide and the 1X. One thing we found a little surprising.

The portrait shots don’t have a telephoto lens. You might expect that the portrait shots won’t be good. But it’s not like that. The portrait shots are 1x, but the edge detection is good. And the blur in the background is also natural. The skin is natural. The glasses didn’t blur. Usually, the glasses blur in portrait photos. And the selfie is either indoor or outdoor. And the most difficult selfie is the one against the sky.

The texture makes the skin smooth. If you are taking it indoors. If you are taking it outdoors, then the details are not too much on the face. Talking about the video, you can take 4K 120 FPS videos from the back. And you can make 4K 30 FPS videos from the front. But the option of log video, which is in the OnePlus 15, is basically the quality of the camera with which you can shoot. According to us, if you are making videos on Instagram or YouTube Shorts at this time, the Log is not that big, but it is okay because it is in the top flagship phones. Next year, it will be in the range of 40-50K. But we felt that there is an IP69K rating, but there is no underwater recording mode, which is added in the OnePlus 15. If you want to record a video with stabilization, then it will work on 1080p 30fps.

    Performance:

Now let’s talk about performance. This has Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The OnePlus 15 has 8 Elite Gen 5. There is a difference between a flagship and a flagship killer. There is a colour extra in the flagship. And actually, if you look at the paper in the benchmarks, you will feel a major upgrade in numbers. Rest, in terms of performance, it has a full-on boost.

It has UFS 4.1 storage, and RAM is also 12GB. UFS 4.1 vs UFS 3 or 2, if we tell you, it makes a lot of difference. First of all, if you have taken high-quality portrait photos, they will be rendered quickly. Plus, your game loads quickly. If you copy something internally, it loads very fast. Plus, the fast storage makes your phone very fast.

We upgraded an iMac to an SSD from a normal hard drive. The load time of 1 minute was converted to 5-10 seconds. This difference is due to the bus storage. Everything else was the same. There was no RAM upgrade. The bus storage was upgraded.

And the rest of the things are connected with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. And if you run it normally, 165 Hz plus Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, if you combine these two, the experience feels very smooth. Normally, if you are running it, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the OnePlus 15 and this.

But there is a difference, my friends. What does this mean? First of all, we have turned on the BGMI. If we open the settings, then it is running smoothly and ultra-extreme. It has 4-5 fingers on the big screen. But there is still space after that. You can see. There is a good space left on the screen to spot enemies. Next, we are running Red Dead Redemption 2. This game is coming from Netflix. It is a PC game. It runs on mobile. 30 FPS is constant. Basically, the game is locked at 30 FPS.

The outside temperature. Because it was not like that at any point that the temperature was too high. If it is above 45, then it becomes a little uncomfortable. It was fun. Overall, if we tell you straight away. There are a lot of things like a camera. In that, a telephoto is needed.

Without a telephoto lens, the phone becomes incomplete. Rest, what is the primary lens? It is doing decent work. The performance, display, battery, and other things are definitely giving a crazy vibe. We are honestly saying that it reminds us of the old OnePlus. Because the old OnePlus phones also have a lot of performance in the display.

    Conclusion:

And in battery also, in oneplus, there was a McLaren edition and all that. Extreme fast charging. So, it gives us that vibe. But, in the first oneplus, there was one thing which was a major selling point. That the UI was empty. There were not many extra things. It was almost stock Android.

It is a bit heavy, but the features are there. Overall, it is an all-around powerful smartphone. We think it will be the next level if it is capable of a 165 Hz upgrade in software.

    And till then, Bye.
